Tooth bonding is an excellent option for patients of all ages. Our doctors recommend tooth bonding to treat patients with chipped, cracked, or misshapen teeth. Tooth bonding can also be used to fill in large gaps between your teeth. Additionally, if your teeth are resistant to our whitening solutions, tooth bonding can be used to cover any permanent discoloration or staining.

Tooth Bonding In Columbia, MD

Similar to a dental filling, tooth bonding involves the use of a composite, tooth-colored resin to fill in any damage on your teeth. A small portion of your tooth’s enamel will need to be removed and etched so that the resin is able to properly adhere. Our doctors sculpt the resin down to fit snuggly against the surface of your tooth.

We also ensure that it does not disrupt your bite pattern and that the color of the resin blends discreetly with your smile. Ultraviolet light is then used to secure the resin to the tooth. Touch-ups may be necessary after years of wear; however, they are typically just as quick and affordable as the original procedure.

Tooth Bonding FAQs

How long does teeth bonding last?

Teeth bonding typically lasts anywhere from 3-10 years. After about 5 years, the bonding material can be replaced to rejuvenate the tooth. Tooth bonding does not last forever and should be touched up every five-to-ten years or so. However, the better you take care of your teeth, the longer it will last. Bonding material cannot be whitened so we advise you to avoid consuming teeth-staining foods and drinks. This includes coffee, tea, red wine, and dark sauces.

Can you eat normally with dental bonding?

Patients with a dental bond should give it time to set before eating any hard or chewy foods. These include apples, candies, steak, etc. Bonding is strong but is also still susceptible to the same damage your teeth endure.

Do bonded teeth stain easily?

Bond material may become stained over time, however, it is less likely to stain than natural teeth. Bonding material is nonporous and can protect against stains, white tooth enamel is not. You can not whiten tooth bonding either.
